The event is part of the series of activities celebrating the United Nations Day of Vesak 2025, and holds special significance as the relics of Lord Shakyamuni Buddha – a National Treasure of India – will be ceremoniously escorted and enshrined in this beautiful coastal city. In Buddhism, paying homage to the Buddha’s relics is considered equivalent to paying homage to the Buddha Himself.
